Spring has Sprung!
Like most Calgarians, we are very excited that spring is finally here! Birds chirping, weather warming, and flowers blooming make these longer days all that much more beautiful. And what better time to air out your home and refresh your living space?
We recently shared some DIY Staging Tips to get your house ready for the market, but since spring is a popular time to prepare your house for sale we decided to make this handy guide as a helpful supplement. Please feel free to use this guide to help you figure out what to do with all that stuff you come across when de-cluttering and/or packing your home in preparation for your next move.
Dealing with Unwanted Stuff:
One of the questions we get asked most frequently when meeting clients for home staging consultations is “what should I do with all this old stuff?!” Whenever possible, we always encourage our clients to sell or donate instead of throwing out!
Kijiji is a great resource for selling items online or offering them for free. Sometimes a garage sale is a good idea, depending on how much stuff you need to get rid of, but this can take up a lot of valuable time. There will almost always be a few things left over that need to be dealt with, too. This is just one of the reasons why donating is a good choice – besides helping the environment, contributing to society and helping out those who need it most, many of the organizations listed below will also pick up your donations. Talk about a win-win situation!
Below is a list of truly great organizations that will be happy to receive your (good condition) unwanted stuff and old things. We’ve sorted this list according to the category, but some of these places (like the Women In Need Society) will gladly take a range of donated goods so long as it’s all in good condition.
